If you want to be an effective parent, it's a good idea to know what you're selling. If you want to be an effective marketer, it's a good idea to know what effective parents do. Here are five reasons why consumers like role models. I'll leave it up to you to decide if consumers are like children.
- It hurts less when we learn by watching someone else make the mistake.
- People seek role models: that's why we have so many self-help books.
- Role modeling is one time when copying someone else's work isn't cheating.
- Imitating success leads to more success.
- Leading by role modeling is easier than accepting defeat.

I have to respond to this one because it just tickles my funny bone!
1. But it's so much more fun to find out for yourself! Then you get to speak from experience, "Yep, I did that. That doesn't work." HA!
2. People don't trust their own wisdom and guidance system, they think someone else has this life thing figured out better than they do.
3. Or is it? Kind of feels like that especially when someone gives you credit for it. I personally like to be the first to try an idea, so much more adventurous.
4. That's dead on, I can't even think of anything smart assed or funny to say.
5. I don't get it? Do you mean learning by role modeling? You're my role model, break it down for me!! Please? ha ha
Role modeling feels good to the person who is the role model, even when that person is making things up on the fly.
